About Us
We’re not just about making and mending.
- We hold a weekly social meeting with lots of chatting over tea and biscuits.
- We run a range of social events and activities throughout the year. There is usually at least one event each month. During 2024, we have visited Tredegar House in Newport (a National Trust property), attended a BBQ kindly hosted by one of our members, played skittles, had an Italian meal and a Spanish evening at the Bowls Club, enjoyed curry and beer evenings and much more. Check out the Events page for details of future events. We have started to hold regular breakfasts at the Bowls Club.
- We have an allotment which members use to produce a wide range of fruit and vegetables.
- We have some musically talented members who enjoy jamming with lessons freely available to those wanting to learn.
Our History
Chippenham Shed (CS) was originally formed in 2014 and became a registered Charity (CIO) in 2018.
Initially meetings were held at the Weighbridge at Chippenham Railway Station then, subsequently, relocated to occupy a small-shed building at the Chippenham Sea Cadets.
Since 2018 we held a weekly meeting at the Chippenham Rugby Football Club (CRFC). In 2024 our weekly meetings are held in North Wilts Bowls Club in Westcroft, Chippenham.
The great news is that we have finally found a home for our workshop adjacent to the North Wiltshire Bowls Club.
We are a member of the UK Men’s Shed Association - a national body that provides support and advice with governance, health and safety policy and legal matters. There are currently 582 men’s sheds operating in the UK.
